GUEST REVIEWS

When we at Les Vigeants say we want you to get the most out of your holiday, we really mean it, especially when it comes to important details like food. We will do our best to help you work, rest and play to the best of your ability.

As part of the preparations for your trip we will establish an outline menu for your stay. Pet hates, allergies and favourite treats will all be taken into consideration as will the training you intend to do. When you get here our nutritionist can then adjust the weeks menu as your training and itinerary demands. That could be providing recovery based meals on demanding training days or perhaps you partake in a large lunch whilst out sightseeing and would prefer a lighter meal in the evening.

On a normal day you can expect breakfast (cereals, fruit, pastries, eggs, toast), a self serve or picnic lunch (fresh bread, pastas, salads etc.) If we haven't spent all day out having fun then we offer afternoon coffee and cake (freshly baked). In the evenings, we all dine together at the family table on a 3 course meal with wine on 6 evenings out of 7. We ask that you dine out once at one of the many good restaurants nearby or prepare a meal yourselves in the cottage kitchen to give our kitchen a night off.

Our off-peak self-catered guests can still ask for nutritional advice and will have the use the cottage's fully equipped kitchen. Of course, you'll have the option of dining at some of the local restaurants and we can also provide a taxiing service on such occasions.

Sandra from France - Yoga & Specials

Liz is a great yoga teacher, she takes great care in planning our weekly sessions which are varied and extremely well tailored to our group. I am not a natural but love the classes and always feel we've worked hard but come away feeling relaxed and ready for the day ahead. A fabulous venue all year round but especially in the Summer when we're outside in the sun, by the pool listening to the birds.

Liz also offers fabulous retreat brunches and full days which I have joined on a number of occasions with great yoga for all levels and amazing food. I can highly recommend Liz's yoga sessions for all levels.

I belong to a small group who under the guidance of Liz have come to have a greater understanding that yoga is not just about movement but also about general well-being, midfullness and meditation. The class is planned  but is modified for individuals to get the best from it because of Liz's monitoring and attention to our needs. Several times a year we are treated to a 'yoga brunch' where a carefully planned programme of yoga/meditation is followed by a delicious home-made nutritious brunch using locally sourced ingredients. We need time out for ourselves and this is the best place to have it

'A heartfelt thank you, as it was a perfect weekend.
It's my first retreat and I'm hoping it won't be my last.
Such great people to meet and get to know , I'll never forget .
I think after all the ups and downs we've all faced with Covid and life in general it was a time to relax and step out for a minute from our normal lives. We laughed, had a few tears but above all shared.
You can't bottle something so personal and special.  It was truly such a wonderful weekend'

'Personally I think you made the weekend, all the hard work and planning you’d done in advance helped us to have the most amazing weekend.  I certainly needed it after all the recent stress Thank you again.
The yoga classes, the venue, massages, company, laughter  and food helped make everything perfect.
I would certainly love to do another one'

'We just got back from a training week and this place is AMAZING! The cottage was out of a fairytale, the scenery was breath taking, the food cooked for us was better than in a restaurant but most importantly the hosts Liz, Gary and Lara were the most lovely friendly genuine people. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and we arrived as strangers but left as friends. I cried when I left!! I would recommend this place for people training, it’s lovely to run and cycle around and my husband loved the open water swimming in the rivers and lake. We will definitely be back in the future xx'

'Just wanted to say a big thank you to Liz and Gary for making our second stay with them as amazing as the first!! We loved it so much last year that we wanted to share the experience with our close friends Kevin and Tracy. What you offer is first class from the transfers to the training options and through to the catering which is delicious especially the CAKE!! We knew Kevin and Tracy would enjoy it but they could not of been more complimentary about the whole holiday! They absolutely loved it. I would recommend this to everyone, it's ideal for active people but it is also an amazing location to relax and rejuvenate.
We will be back........again!👍'

'We were invited to spend a week at Les Vigeants at the recommendation of friends who also came for a second visit. Everything lived up to our friends commendations and more.
The venue is simply superb. Peace and quiet are pretty much guaranteed as traffic on the lanes Is pretty much zero. Not only could listen to the birds singing I was also able to a listen to a wasp chewing through a leaf.!!!!
Runs, rides and swims are customer driven so Liz and Gary will advice you and literally guide you on all. Forest runs , runs and rides on traffic lanes in stunning scenery are abundant. Open water swims in stunning locations of race very and lake in clear water fabulous.
The hosts are equally superb. They go that extra mile- literally. Both are seasoned athletes therefore tailor your exercise accordingly with advice and guidance when requested. We had a whale of a time as well as doing some great training in non pressured atmosphere and environment.
We also had easily the best food I have had on any holiday. And the homemade cakes ……..mmmmmmm. Where do I start on those.?'

'The wife and I spent a week with Liz and Gary at the beginning of May, what an experience we had, I'm in training for an ultra and MrsS is training for a two day 200m sportive. They coped brilliantly with our competing demands, and topped it off with fabulous food and fabulous cakes!
Definitely 5 stars!!!'

'Absolutely fantastic; I cannot recommend a training beak here enough. Liz, Gary and Lara went out of their way to make me feel welcome and relaxed. It is easily the best quality training week I have ever had, as all I needed to do was to focus on my training and what I was doing, without needing to worry about anything else at all. The great company and reliably good food was a huge added bonus; after all, it's easier to go hard during the day, if you know you're going to be so well looked after each evening. The location is perfect for it too, with super running trails, seemingly endless miles of good tarmac for cycling and beautiful (and warm!) lakes. Returning to the potholes and grey skies of Northumberland has been a disappointment!!'

'We had a wonderful family week here in June 2017. Gary and Liz (and Lara) are perfect hosts, they can't do enough for you to make sure you get the most out of your stay. We cycled, ran, walked the nearby beautiful woodland trails and swam in a river and lake. There are also lots of activities at the house; tennis, badminton, archery and bungee swimming in the pool which was great fun. The food is awesome too. If you're an outdoors family looking for a week where you can train and relax in equal measure then this is the place for you. We'll definitely be back!'
